It has not been discovered how Denny occupied
his time while married to Nancy but following her death, he took holy
orders in March 1820 and became the Vicar of Ditchling, Sussex, and
from 1823, also Rector of Catsfield; he retained both livings until his
death in 1843.
Denny first married Nancy Dixon, daughter of
Joseph Dixon and Unknown, on 20 Feb 1802 in St Laurence's Church,
Guestling, Sussex.1 2 (Nancy Dixon was born on 7 Nov 1777 in
Calcutta, Bengal Presidency, India 5, baptised on 12 Feb 1786 in St
Martin-in-the-Fields, Westminster, London,6 died on 1 May 1818 in Eltham, Kent 7 and was buried on 9 May 1818 in St John the
Baptist Church, Eltham 8.)
Denny is believed to have married again on
two occasions.
